Le projet a pour objet la transformation et l'agrandissement de l'établissement socio-éducatif qui propose aussi un activité hôtellerie. La municipalité de L'Abbaye saisit l'opportunité de ce concours pour demander aux concurrents une réflexion sur l'aménagement de la Place de la Tour afin d'obtenir un tout cohérent.
